Who We Are

BID St Andrews is your Business Improvement District – an independent, not-for-profit company set up with the aim of improving St Andrews town centre as a place to work, live and visit.

First established in 2016, BID St Andrews is one of 37 Business Improvement Districts in Scotland. Led by member businesses, the BID represents over 280 organisations.

Fair Work First

At BID St Andrews, we are committed to supporting the principles of Fair Work First, the Scottish Government’s policy for driving high-quality and fair work across the labour market.

We recognise that fair work is not only good for employees, but also strengthens our organisation and supports a thriving local economy. In line with Fair Work First, we are committed to:

  • Creating a positive and inclusive working environment

  • Providing effective voice for staff, encouraging open dialogue and feedback

  • Offering flexible and family-friendly working practices

  • Opposing the use of zero-hours contracts that are not mutually agreed

  • Supporting workforce development, learning, and progression opportunities

  • Ensuring our procurement and funding activities promote fair work practices among partners and suppliers

  • We ensure all our staff and contractors are paid at least the Real Living Wage, and we encourage our partners and suppliers to do the same.

We believe that fair work builds a stronger, fairer St Andrews, and we are proud to reflect these values in all aspects of our work with businesses, partners, and the wider community.
