BID St Andrews is delighted to announce that Dunhill has joined as an Associate Member of the town’s Business Improvement District (BID), strengthening its connection with St Andrews and supporting projects that benefit local businesses and the wider community. The move comes at a milestone moment, as 2025 marks the 40th anniversary Alfred Dunhill supporting golf and the town of St Andrews.
The Championship has become a much-loved fixture in the town’s calendar, drawing visitors from around the world and bringing a buzz to St Andrews each autumn. Its impact reaches far beyond golf, with local shops, restaurants, and hospitality businesses all benefitting from the energy and attention the event generates.
By joining BID St Andrews, Dunhill is formally recognising that contribution and giving back to the town that has welcomed the Championship for four decades. Their support will help fund initiatives ranging from seasonal lights and town-centre improvements to marketing campaigns, visitor trails, and events that showcase St Andrews to residents and visitors alike.
A spokesperson for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship said: “We’re thrilled to join BIDS St Andrews as an Associate Member. Our iconic golf event, played across St Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns, has long been a champion of the town and now it’s officially part of the business community too. With BID St Andrews, we’re working to support local growth, community spirit, and the continued success of St Andrews.”
BID St Andrews Manager, Georgia Heggie, added: “It feels especially fitting to welcome the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as an Associate Member following Scotland Loves Local Week. For the past 40 years, the Championship has played a significant role in supporting local trade and hospitality. This step highlights a genuine commitment to giving back to the town and will help us deliver projects that directly benefit local businesses and strengthen the town centre.”
Associate Membership provides a way for organisations outside the BID area, or not eligible for full membership, to actively support projects that promote the town and enhance life for residents, businesses, and visitors.
This new partnership highlights a shared ambition between Dunhill and BID St Andrews to celebrate the heritage of the town while investing in its future success.
